XTRUST-6G Launches Its Vision for Secure, Resilient and Quantum-Safe 6G Networks
The transition to 6G networks marks a new era of ultra-fast, intelligent, and highly interconnected digital infrastructures. From autonomous vehicles and smart energy systems to UAV-assisted operations and cloud-native networks, 6G will become the backbone of Europe’s digital society. However, as connectivity evolves, so do the cybersecurity threats that accompany it.
To address these challenges, XTRUST-6G officially presents its mission and vision through a newly released project video, now available online. The video introduces the project’s ambition to build a trusted, resilient, and quantum-safe security foundation for future 6G networks.
Building Trust into the Core of 6G
XTRUST-6G is a European research and innovation initiative bringing together 20 partners from 12 countries, coordinated by the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). The project focuses on redefining security for next-generation wireless communications by adopting a Zero-Trust approach — where no device, user, or service is trusted by default and continuous verification is essential.
By integrating:
- AI-driven intrusion detection and cyber threat intelligence
- Automated security orchestration
- Quantum-safe technologies, including Post-Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Key Distribution
XTRUST-6G aims to ensure that 6G networks remain secure, adaptive, and future-proof — even in the face of AI-powered and quantum-enabled cyber threats.
From Research to Real-World Impact
A key highlight of the project, showcased in the video, is its strong emphasis on real-world validation. XTRUST-6G is deploying and testing its solutions across five large-scale pilots, including:
- Securing EV charging infrastructures across Europe
- Protecting 6G-connected autonomous vehicles
- Deploying quantum-safe communications
- Safeguarding UAV-assisted operations
- Strengthening O-RAN and virtualized 6G infrastructures
These pilots ensure that XTRUST-6G innovations are not only theoretical but ready for practical deployment in complex, real-life environments.
A Collaborative European Effort
XTRUST-6G brings together expertise from academia, industry, mobile network operators, policymakers, and open-source communities. This collaborative approach enables the project to combine cutting-edge research with regulatory insight and industrial relevance, contributing to a secure and competitive European 6G ecosystem.
By engaging stakeholders across the entire value chain, XTRUST-6G positions security not merely as a technical feature, but as a trusted foundation for Europe’s digital future.
Watch the Video & Join the Journey
The newly published XTRUST-6G video offers a concise overview of the project’s goals, technologies, pilots, and expected impact. It marks an important milestone at the beginning of the project’s 36-month journey toward shaping the next generation of secure communications.
