XTRUST-6G Participates in the SNS JU Steering Board and Technical Board Meetings in Thessaloniki

XTRUST-6G actively participated in the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) Steering Board (SB) and Technical Board (TB) meetings held on 20–21 May 2026 in Thessaloniki, Greece, hosted by the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).

The meetings brought together representatives, project leaders, and technical experts from across the SNS JU community to discuss strategic priorities, strengthen collaboration, and coordinate activities supporting Europe’s vision for next-generation communication networks and services.

 

Contributing to the SNS JU Steering Board

During the SNS JU Steering Board meeting, XTRUST-6G joined discussions focused on strengthening cooperation across SNS-funded projects, promoting synergies, and supporting the alignment of activities within the broader SNS ecosystem. The Steering Board plays a key role in facilitating collaboration between SNS projects, enabling knowledge exchange, coordinated dissemination efforts, and progress monitoring across the Initiative.

A key topic of discussion was the European Commission’s proposed Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034. Participants exchanged views on the future investment priorities needed to support Europe’s ambitions in research, innovation, digital sovereignty, competitiveness, and technological leadership. The discussions highlighted the importance of continued investment in advanced communication infrastructures and secure digital technologies as Europe moves towards the 6G era.

 

Technical Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange

On 21 May, XTRUST-6G also participated in the SNS JU Technical Board meeting, where technical representatives from across the SNS portfolio exchanged updates, shared experiences, and explored opportunities for collaboration.

The meeting provided an important platform for discussing ongoing technological developments, technical challenges, and future research directions related to 6G networks and services. Through these exchanges, XTRUST-6G further strengthened its engagement with the European 6G research and innovation community while promoting its work on extended zero-trust security, AI-driven cybersecurity mechanisms, and quantum-safe communications.

Participation in both meetings enabled XTRUST-6G to contribute to strategic and technical discussions shaping the future of Europe’s 6G landscape. The events also provided valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration with fellow SNS-funded projects, supporting the creation of a strong and coordinated ecosystem dedicated to secure, resilient, and trustworthy next-generation communication infrastructures.
