XTRUST-6G Research on AI-Driven O-RAN Security Presented at IEEE CSCN 2026

XTRUST-6G research was presented at the IEEE Conference on Standards for Communications and Networking (IEEE CSCN 2026), held from 7–9 September 2026 at King’s College London, United Kingdom, as part of London 6G Week.

IEEE CSCN provides an international forum for discussing the relationship between cutting-edge research, technological innovation and the development of future communications and networking standards. The 2026 edition featured keynotes, panels, technical sessions and workshops addressing topics such as AI-native 6G, intelligent networks, advanced connectivity and future 6G technologies. Co-located with the one6G Summit 2026, the event also brought together representatives from Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), academia and industry.

Representing XTRUST-6G, Dr. Gueltoum Bendiab from the University of Portsmouth (UPORT) presented the research paper “CloudHawk: AI-driven Intrusion Detection Framework for O-RAN Security and Intelligent 6G Application Protection.”

The work presents research results developed within XTRUST-6G WP7, Task 7.1, focusing on the application of Artificial Intelligence to intrusion detection and the protection of O-RAN environments and intelligent 6G applications. The research contributes to XTRUST-6G’s broader efforts to develop advanced security mechanisms capable of supporting trustworthy and resilient next-generation networks.

With more than 500 attendees from around the world, IEEE CSCN 2026 offered an important opportunity to disseminate XTRUST-6G research to an international community of researchers, industry representatives and experts involved in communications technologies and standardisation.

Participation in the conference also supported knowledge exchange around emerging approaches to AI-enabled network security and 6G, while increasing the visibility of XTRUST-6G research within a community actively contributing to the evolution of future communications technologies and standards.
