XTRUST-6G Research Presented at ANTS 2026
XTRUST-6G partners showcased innovative research on federated learning and edge intelligence at the 15th International Conference on Swarm Intelligence (ANTS 2026), held from 8–10 June 2026.
As part of the project’s ongoing efforts to advance secure and intelligent 6G networks, XTRUST-6G research was presented during ANTS 2026 through both a paper presentation and a poster session. The work, entitled “Knowledge Distillation-Driven Federated Learning as a Service for Resource-Constrained Edge Intelligence,” was presented by Filippo Vannella and highlights contributions developed within Task 4.2 of the project.
The presented research focuses on the implementation of server-side knowledge distillation within the XTRUST-6G Federated Learning as a Service (FlaaS) platform. The proposed approach addresses the challenges faced by resource-constrained edge devices by enabling more efficient federated learning processes while reducing communication and computational overhead. Such innovations are particularly relevant for future 6G environments, where distributed intelligence, scalability, and security are critical requirements.
ANTS is a highly selective international conference dedicated to advances in swarm intelligence and collective adaptive systems, attracting researchers, academics, and industry experts from around the world. The event provided an excellent opportunity to disseminate XTRUST-6G research results to a specialised audience and to engage in discussions with experts working on cutting-edge artificial intelligence and distributed systems technologies.
The combination of an oral presentation and an interactive poster session enabled extensive exchanges with conference participants, fostering valuable feedback and knowledge sharing. These interactions contributed to increasing the visibility of XTRUST-6G and strengthening connections with the broader research community working on intelligent and distributed network technologies.
Participation in ANTS 2026 demonstrates XTRUST-6G’s commitment to advancing trustworthy, efficient, and intelligent 6G ecosystems through innovative approaches to federated learning, edge intelligence, and AI-driven network management.
XTRUST-6G will continue to disseminate its research outcomes through leading international conferences and scientific forums, supporting the project’s mission to deliver secure, resilient, and trustworthy solutions for next-generation communication networks.
